Creative Adventure!

One of the benefits of moving to a new place is not having a lot of friends or a lot of things to occupy my non-work time. About a month ago, Kim and I met in Greenville, SC, for the night to hang out, eat some good food and pretty much just get away for the weekend. She was my roommate for a year in college, and we hadn't seen each other since about 2003. It'd been a while. She lives in North Carolina, I live in Georgia and her parents have a house in South Carolina...perfect!

Saturday morning, we slept in, went to breakfast and wandered around the adorable downtown area, including in and out of several art galleries. Who knew that there were so many art galleries in Greenville, SC? Not me!

While appreciating the artists' creations, I couldn't help but wonder if I could do something like that?

So upon returning to Atlanta, I went to Hobby Lobby. I came home with acrylic paints, brushes and even some canvases.

This first picture below is a picture of the picture I tried to paint. I took it in the Cinque Terre area of Italy in March 2009. The second is my final product. And yes, I realize that it looks more like a 4th grade art project than what I saw in Greenville.

This was my next attempt. It was inspired by something I actually saw in Greenville. Simple. I like it.

These are two of my favorite quotations...

The writing on this one is a little crooked...gives it character :)
